Drawing Objects - Chessboard

Task

Create a chessboard in Microsoft Word using (a) Word's drawing tools and (b) a table.

Instructions

Chessboard 1
(a) Create a new Microsoft Word file, and save it as "Chessboard 1.docx".
(b) Adjust all the margins of the document to 1.5 cm.
(c) Using Word's drawing tools, make a chessboard with squares 1.5 cm by 1.5 cm.

Chessboard 2
(a) Create a new Microsoft Word file, and save it as "Chessboard 2.docx".
(b) Adjust all the margins of the document to 1.5 cm.
(c) Create a table with 8 rows and 8 columns.
(d) Set the height of the rows and the width of the columns to 1.5 cm.
(e) Set the borders of the whole table to 1pt black.
(f) Set the background colour of alternating cells to black.

Notes

Microsoft Word (and the other members of the Office Suite) have a range of drawing tools based on shape objects. They are often suitable for pictures and diagrams that are not too detailed or require sophisticated techniques. In particular, Word's drawing tools offer a variety of shapes that can be stretched, scaled, and in some instances altered.
