Try to reproduce each of the pictures below. You can make the pictures bigger than they are here, if you wish, but try to fit all three onto a single A4 page.

Notes
Pixel-oriented graphics applications (such as Microsoft Paint, AppleWorks, or Gimp) have a range of tools available to help draw images such as these. These applications are best for images that will become part of a web-based presentation.
Microsoft Word (and the other members of the Office Suite) have a range of drawing tools based on shape objects. They are often suitable for pictures and diagrams that are not too detailed or require sophisticated techniques. In particular, Word's drawing tools offer a variety of shapes that can be stretched, scaled, and in some instances altered.
Adobe InDesign has a much more sophisticated range of drawing tools. Although InDesign is regularly used for complicated or detailed images, it can readily prepare images similar to the ones here.
