Internet Research - An Animal

Task

Use research skills to find information about an animal.

Instructions

(a) Choose an animal. Your choice must be different from all other members of the class.

(b) Try to find the answers to as many of the following questions as possible. You can use the Library, books from home, and the Internet. While finding the answers to these questions, make sure you write down all sources of information you have used.

  • What is its common name?
  • What is its scientific name?
  • What group of animals does it belong to?
  • What special features does it have?
  • What does it eat?
  • How does it move?
  • How does it reproduce?
  • How does it breathe?
  • What stages does it go through in its life cycle?
  • Where does it live?
  • How does it respond to changes in its environment?
  • Is it helpful or harmful to humans? In what way(s)?
  • What are two interesting facts about it?

(c) Develop some questions of your own, and find answers to them.

(d) Record your findings in a Word document. Save the document as "An Animal.docx".

Notes

(a) Do not worry about presentation - the task is primarily about research skills. However, make sure you record all questions, answers and sources of information used.
