Make a short song (lyrics and melody).
Notes
Create a short song. You can choose the topic of the song, the mood, and any other details. However, your song must contain:
- at least one verse;
- a chorus.
Write the lyrics in Microsoft Word, and save it as "Song.docx". Create the melody in GarageBand.
GarageBand Instructions
To make your melody in GarageBand, follow these steps:
1. Start GarageBand.
2. Select "New Project" and "Piano". Click on the "Choose" button.
3. Save as "Song.band".
4. When the song window opens, cmd-click in the middle panel, on the right of the piano control.
5. A green box should appear. Grab the green box and slide it as far to the left as possible, so it begins at "1" on the bar ruler.
6. Move your mouse to the bottom-right corner of the green box. The mouse cursor should change to "<]>". Click and drag to the right to lengthen the green box.
7. Click on the "View/Hide Track Editor" button (it looks like scissors snipping tape, in the bottom left corner of the window).
8. Click on the "Score" tab. The Track Editor panel should now show a set of empty staves for music.
Now you can compose your melody:
- Cmd-click on the staves to add notes;
- Click/drag on existing notes to move them;
- Click on a note and press "Delete" to delete a note;
- Right-click on the stave lets you change the length of the notes being added;
- Test how it sounds by pressing the "Play" button in the green region immediately above the staves.
