Task
Create a spreadsheet that calculates a set of summary statistics.
Description
Statistics is a calculation-intensive branch of Mathematics. Spreadsheets are particularly well-suited to working out the statistics of data sets. Not only can spreadsheets make thousands of calculations convenient to set up, most spreadsheet applications have a range of in-built statistics functions.
Instructions
(a) Create a new spreadsheet, called "Statistics.xlsx".
(b) Designate an area of a sheet for calculations, and an area for data.
(c) In the data area, copy in Data Set 1, below.
(d) In the calculation area, calculate the following statistics:
- Lowest, First Quartile, Median, Third Quartile and Highest;
- Mean and Standard Deviation;
- Mode and Midrange;
- Range and Interquartile Range.
(e) Copy your calculations to a second sheet, and copy Data Set 2 into the data area.
(f) Copy your calculations to a third sheet, and copy Data Set 3 into the data area.
