Spreadsheet - Times Table

Task

Create a times table on a spreadsheet.

Instructions

(a) Start a new spreadsheet and save it as "Times Table.xlsx".

(b) Type in the following data:

A B C
1 Times 1
2 1
3

(c) Use relative referencing to write a formula in cell A3, so that it adds 1 to the number in the cell above it.

(d) Drag this formula down from A3 to A11 (you should see the numbers 2 to 10).

(e) Use relative referencing to write a formula in cell C1, so that it adds 1 to the number in the cell to the left of it.

(f) Drag this formula across from C1 to K1 (you should see the numbers 2 to 10).

(g) In cell B2, try to write a formula that calculates the number at the very top of the column times by the number at the very left of the row. See if you can drag that formula across and down (2 separate drags) to fill out the times table.

(h) How much bigger can you extend the table? What's the biggest table you can make that will still fit inside one printed page?
