Text - Game Review
Task
Write a review about a computer game.
Instructions
(a) Choose a game that you can play either at home or at school. This could be:
- a game available on the school system;
- a game on an Internet site, like http://www.coolmath-games.com;
- a portable game like a Flash (".swf") game that you can play off a USB drive;
- a game you play at home.
(b) Play it once or twice, to get a feel for the game.
(c) Prepare a report about the game, that covers the following areas. You may need to play the game again to specifically look for answers to some of the questions.
| Concept | What is the game about? What is the game's setting? What is the style of play of the game? Is it one player or multiplayer? Is it suitable for young children? For adults? |
| Rules | Describe the basic play of the game - what you can and can't do. Is the game easy to learn? What special features does the game have? How do you know if you've won? |
| Play | Is the game easy to play? Are there special tricks you need to learn? Is it based on skill, luck, or careful planning? |
| Graphics | Are the graphics used in the game of high quality? Does it use three-dimensional graphics, rendering, or other high-performance multimedia? Is the style of animation used (if any) high quality or "slow and jerky"? Does the style of graphics enhance the "feel" of the game? |
| Sound | Are the sounds used in the game of high quality? Is there audio special effects? Is there background music? Do the sounds help make the game better? In what way? |
| Features | Can you save games and continue at another time? Does it have a range of skill levels (easy to hard)? Is the game different every time you play it, or is it always the same? |
(d) Write your report in Microsoft Word. If possible, add images from the game, or from a website related to the game. Save the report as "Game Review.docx".
